Keeping it in the family
For four generations, Central Industrial Sheet Metal has been owned and operated by members of the Blaich family.
Our Mission
Founded in 1924 by a German immigrant named Gustav Blaich, Central Industrial started as a small residential gutter shop which has steadily grown over the past century into a full service sheet metal company offering everything from design to fabrication to plant maintenance.

Gustav Blaich
Our story begins with Gustav Blaich, a young immigrant from Illingen, Germany, who arrived in the United States through Ellis Island in 1906 at 16 years old.
Determined to build a better life, Gustav made his way to Kansas City, Missouri, where he found work as a helper in a local hardware and tin shop. This job laid the foundation for what would become a thriving business.
1924: The beginning
In 1924, Gustav’s vision became a reality when he founded Central Industrial Sheet Metal. What began as a small residential gutter shop steadily grew into a trusted name in the Kansas City metro area, specializing in high-quality sheet metal fabrication and industrial plant maintenance.
Same headquarters
Over the decades, Central Industrial has served a diverse range of industries, building longstanding relationships with businesses and organizations across the region.
We continue to operate from the same building in Kansas City’s West Bottoms where Gustav first launched the company.
It's about family
Gustav had five children: Erma, Ronald, Thelma, Jean, and Calvin, all of whom worked at Central Industrial at some point in their lives. Ronald and Calvin both served as past presidents of the company.
When Calvin retired in 1995, Ronald’s son, Scott Blaich, took over the presidency until his retirement in 2008. Each family member has played a pivotal role in the growth and success of Central Industrial Sheet Metal.
The present
Today, over a century later, Central Industrial remains a family-owned business, proudly led by fourth-generation owners Matt and Chris Blaich.
Under their leadership, the company continues to build upon its legacy while upholding the same core values of craftsmanship, innovation, and quality that Gustav instilled from the very beginning.
